Mid Line Insertion
A Mid line is a peripheral venous access device placed in the upper arm using ultrasound with its tip terminating in the auxiliary vein. Midlines are used for patients with difficult access when cases of a central line are not indicated, yet a short peripheral catheter is not sufficient.

How to decide between a Picc line and a midline? A midline should be used for any of the reasons below.
- Poor Access
- Short term (IV access up to a month)
- Not vesicant therapy
